About Me!

Hi y’all!

I’m Blake, a 20-year-old Linguistics/Statistics student at the University of Michigan, and I like to solve Rubik’s Cubes!

Having always been fascinated by any form of puzzle, the Rubik’s Cube instantly piqued my curiosity. Since first solving the cube back in 2009, the cube itself has become quite a defining attribute of my life. This blog is designed to compile all the unique experiences I have gained throughout this time to provide a rather distinct view into the wonderful world of speedcubing.

Outside of school, my focus in some way, shape, or form converges to speedcubing. Having attended 106 official WCA competitions to date, the WCA has comprised a pretty significant portion of my life. I currently serve as a member of the WCA’s Ethics Committee and have (co-)organized over twenty competitions over my nine years of competing. My main event is 3×3 but I am actively shifting my entire focus to the 3×3-Blindfolded event.

As far as I can tell, blogging is a rather unfamiliar medium for most speedcubers. My desire is for this blog to give you some nuggets of insight into the wonderful world of speedcubing, with the ambition of accommodating speed-cuber and non-cuber audiences alike! As many are aware, the world of speedcubing transcends far past the sole act of repeatedly solving the cube, and I aim to convey all my wonderful experiences and attributes I have contrived through this activity.

I am always looking to accomodate my readers’ interests, so feel free to reach out in case there are any particular topics you would like me to address!

Hope you enjoy! 🙂
